Open your eyes to wonder
see through heavenly eyes,
Jesus in the fields of green,
the angels in disguise.
Wonder: a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.
Who is like you, o Lord, among the gods?
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
Exodus 15: 11 ESV
“Sea of Golden-Green” (found in my poetry book, Beautiful Glimpse) The sun is setting on a sea of golden-green, breathed into wonder by— a mystery. Only the newly born kits and curious fawns know of its depths, the world of enchantment, contained therein. What would it be? To swim its seaweed stalks and part the prickly waves with them? May I always see the magic, mirrored in the mystery.
From Awaking Wonder by Sally Clarkson:
Wonder was the tool through which Michelangelo imagined the fresco on the Sistine Chapel, the way Beethoven wrote his symphonies, the means by which Dickens wrote his novels.
Wonder leads to imagination, where we connect dots to dots in complex thought processes. The more truth we gather, the more food for thought we are fed, the more concepts we understand, the more vigorous our intellect grows. Children given time to engage the gift of wonder feel free to imagine, to dream, and to pretend. This leads them to grow in knowledge and they find the relationship of all that is swirling in their minds to the world in which they live. They are free to take time to wonder and imagine and think.
Spend time in wonder today!

I love the poems you shared, they are beautiful! I've been pondering what it means to have child-like faith and "wonder" must play a huge part in that! Thanks for sharing ❤️
That first photo is just beautiful! And I love your poem. It captures the feeling of wonder perfectly.
And a silly side note... it also brought to mind some of my favorite scenes from Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue... a movie my daughters love. I'm always captivated by the views of nature from a tiny fairy's view. :)
